FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. — The Florida Department of Health in Okaloosa County has issued a water quality health advisory for Marler Park after recent testing found bacteria levels above state recreational water quality standards.
The advisory applies to Marler Park, located at 1275 Santa Rosa Blvd. in Fort Walton Beach.
Tests completed Wednesday, June 24, found that the water did not meet the recreational water quality criteria for Enterococcus bacteria recommended by the Florida Department of Health.
DOH-Okaloosa advises against any water-related activities at the park due to an increased risk of illness for swimmers. According to the department, routine water quality monitoring found bacteria levels above the threshold established by state guidelines.
The advisory will remain in effect until follow-up testing shows bacteria levels have fallen below the accepted health standard.
Beach water quality test results are available through the Florida Healthy Beaches Program.
