NICEVILLE, Fla. — A Niceville High School student has launched a new after-school program designed to help teens prepare for real-world responsibilities.
The program, called Future Ready, was created by eleventh grader Allison Aiken, who is working toward her Girl Scout Gold Award. Allison said the free after-school program connects students with local professionals who teach practical life skills.
Future Ready sessions cover topics such as budgeting, banking basics, saving and spending strategies, college planning, career pathways, job searches, interview preparation, and stress management. Each meeting features a different professional speaker who is said to specialize in that session’s focus.
Allison said the mission of Future Ready is to help teens feel more confident as they navigate the transition into adulthood.
Allison said the program is expected to expand and become more encompassing of other aspects of adulthood. She also asked Niceville High School parents to mention the program to their students and encourage them to explore this new opportunity.
