OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. — North Florida lawns can be challenging, but homeowners can learn how to diagnose and correct common problems during two UF/IFAS Extension seminars scheduled for July 25.
The University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) Extension Office will host two “What’s Wrong with My Lawn?” seminars on Saturday, July 25, to help homeowners identify the causes of declining or unhealthy lawns and learn practical solutions.
The seminars will be presented by Larry Williams, UF/IFAS Extension Agent for Okaloosa County. According to Mr Williams, many homeowners rely on guesswork when trying to determine why their lawns are struggling, often making problems worse and increasing maintenance costs.
Participants will learn how to recognize and address several of the most common causes of lawn decline, including soil compaction, nutrient imbalances, lawn diseases, insect pests, and improper lawn maintenance practices.
The same program will be offered at two locations. The morning session will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. at the UF/IFAS Extension Office, 3098 Airport Road in Crestview. The afternoon session will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Sheila Dunning Extension Building, 1954 Lewis Turner Blvd. in Fort Walton Beach.
Registration is $10 per person, and space is limited.
Homeowners may register for the Crestview session using Eventbrite at https://LawnProblemsN72526.eventbrite.com or for the Fort Walton Beach session at https://LawnProblemsFWB72526.eventbrite.com.
