WALTON COUNTY, Fla.—The Walton County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) said it has arrested two individuals in connection with shots fired near a bar in DeFuniak Springs.

According to the WCSO, on Thursday, an adult and juvenile were arrested following an investigation into a shooting near the Wagon Wheel on State Road 83.

The WCSO Criminal Investigations Bureau arrested Armand Holmes, 19, and a 16-year-old boy. Both are charged with shooting within 1,000 feet of a person, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and using a firearm in the commission of a felony.

The charges stem from a reported shooting on May 11. Witnesses reportedly described a small black vehicle driving by the bar and heard gunfire in the area.

After arriving on the scene shortly after midnight, deputies reportedly located shell casings and canvassed the area. The WCSO said there were no reported injuries and no reports of property or cars hit by gunfire following the shooting.

Within hours, the WCSO said the suspect vehicle was located on Raphael Road in DeFuniak Springs.

After gathering video evidence, witness statements, and multiple interviews, the WCSO said Mr Holmes and the 16-year-old were identified as suspects.

Holmes was taken into custody Thursday morning on West Honeysuckle Street in Mossy Head. Members of the U.S. Marshals Task Force and the Criminal Investigations Bureau detained him and transported him to the Walton County Jail.

The juvenile suspect was remanded while appearing in court Thursday afternoon for a separate case. He was transported and booked in the Walton County Jail and then transferred to the Department of Juvenile Justice in Crestview.

“Our investigators continue to make good on our commitment to holding criminals accountable,” said Sheriff Michael Adkinson.

“While we are thankful no one was injured in this particular case, we hope this sends a message to those who consider such acts in the future.”

The WCSO is continuing the investigation into the incident. It said additional information will be released once it is available.
