Things returning to normal in Niceville

Many businesses have reopened this morning, and others are preparing to do so, clearing debris and removing the plywood used to protect windows and doors.

Niceville is largely returning to normal this morning following yesterday’s landfall of hurricane Michael, which has devastated areas east of here.

Niceville was spared major damage.

Gulf Power reports no power outages remain in the Niceville area.

Okaloosa Gas reports it is currently experiencing a high call volume; please call or text Okaloosa Gas at 850-533-4054.  You can also reach Okaloosa Gas on its website at http://www.okaloosagas.com/forms .

Emerald Coast Maine Center in Niceville reports minimal damage.

Bluewater Bay Marina reports some damage to docks.

Okaloosa County schools will reopen Friday.  All elementary/middle school activities are canceled for today; this includes all extracurricular activities. However, High School extracurricular practices may be held at the discretion of the high school principal.
