The nonprofit, whose motto is “Remember, Honor, Teach,” works each December to honor fallen service members and educate future generations about their sacrifices.

According to Leah Hodge, media representative for the Twin Cities chapter, the group’s goal this year is to ensure that wreaths are placed on all veteran graves at Heritage Gardens Funeral Home, Cemetery & Crematory in Niceville, as well as at Sunset Cemetery in Valparaiso.

Additionally, wreaths will be placed at the entrance gates of Early Cemetery, Rocky Cemetery, and Niceville Community Cemetery, also known locally as Sweeney Cemetery.

In all, it’s more than 1,000 wreaths.

Ms Hodge said the Twin Cities chapter will also be visible in the community this fall to raise awareness and accept donations. Look for them at the Niceville Bazaar at the former Mullet Festival site on Saturday, October 18, and the Niceville Veterans Day Parade on Saturday, November 15.

Wreath-laying ceremonies are scheduled for Saturday, December 13, beginning at 9 a.m. at Sunset Cemetery in Valparaiso and continuing at 11 a.m. at Heritage Gardens in Niceville. Volunteers are welcome, and families are encouraged to take part in the event.
