According to the City of Niceville, the redesigned park will feature fully accessible playground equipment, inclusive pathways, ADA-compliant restrooms, a shaded pavilion, a quiet room, and a Miracle League field.

The Miracle League field will include a specially designed, rubberized baseball surface intended to allow children of all abilities to play the game safely and comfortably.

The project is being made possible through a partnership with the Okaloosa Board of County Commissioners, according to the city.

Plans for the park were first unveiled at a groundbreaking ceremony in October, where city and county leaders outlined a vision for creating a safe, inclusive space for children with varying physical, sensory, or developmental abilities.

The park is located at the corner of Park Avenue and Davis Drive.

Community members have expressed excitement about the long-anticipated improvements.

“So excited this is happening for our town!!! My son is going to love it,” wrote Katie Huffer on Facebook in response to the announcement.

In addition to construction updates, the City of Niceville recently hosted a table at the Mission Alpha EDEN Expo to showcase project renderings and gather community feedback.
