September 24 COVID-19 report for Okaloosa: Deaths rise

NICEVILLE, Fla — The Florida Department of Health reports this morning the cumulative number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa County is 4,836, 86 more since Tuesday morning. The death toll in Okaloosa now is 109, seven more deaths reported since Tuesday.

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Niceville and Valparaiso is 606, 10 since Tuesday.

Statewide, 7,601 new cases were reported since Tuesday.

The number of cumulative hospitalizations related to coronavirus in Okaloosa is 295, seven since Tuesday. Yesterday, the county reported there were 10 people in area hospitals with COVID-19, seven in ICU beds.

According to the state DOH, yesterday there were 438 tests returned in Okaloosa with 35 positives. The daily positivity rate was 7.99 percent.

Okaloosa’s weekly positivity rate was 6.15 percent for the week ending Saturday, Sept. 19. It was 8.3 percent for the week ending Sept. 12, and 7.33 for the week ending Sept. 5.

  • Fort Walton Beach, 1,590, 15 since Tuesday
  • Destin, 625, 22 since Tuesday
  • Niceville, 606, 10 since Tuesday
  • Crestview, 983, 19 since Tuesday
  • Shalimar, 233, three since Tuesday
  • Mary Esther, 243, one since Tuesday
  • Eglin AFB, 69, one since Tuesday
  • Laurel Hill, 47, two since Tuesday
  • Baker, 93, no change
  • Holt, 34, no change
  • Valparaiso, 55, two since Tuesday
  • Hurlburt Field, 9, no change
  • Milligan, 2, no change
  • Cinco Bayou, 34, no change
  • Duke Field, 1, no change
  • Missing, 173, nine since Tuesday

Florida does not publish data about deaths for persons under 18. Florida also does not publish testing, case or condition data for people in county/local jails, state prisons, migrant communities, or cumulative totals for testing and cases in long-term care facilities, probable cases and deaths before testing was available, or non-resident data at the zip code or city level.
