FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. — The Okaloosa County Board of County Commissioners has proclaimed April 7-11, 2025, as Okaloosa Saves Week and America Saves Week, recognizing the importance of financial stability and savings.

The annual campaign encourages individuals to assess their finances, set savings goals, and take steps to build financial security. The 2025 theme, “Saving for Your Past, Present and Future,” highlights the importance of saving for emergencies, retirement, and overall financial well-being.

“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Okaloosa County Board of County Commissioners for their continued efforts in raising awareness to the importance of saving,” said Okaloosa Saves Board Chair Laura Coale.

“Personal and household savings are crucial for the stability and vitality of northwest Florida residents.”

Okaloosa Saves is a local partner in the national America Saves initiative, which promotes financial literacy and savings habits. The proclamation encourages residents to start or increase emergency funds, open savings accounts, set up split deposits, and contribute more to retirement accounts such as 401(k) plans.

Okaloosa Saves, founded in 2003, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping individuals reduce debt and build wealth. The organization was awarded the 2024 Savings Champion Award by America Saves for its efforts in financial education and advocacy.
