November 2 COVID-19 report for Okaloosa, Niceville

NICEVILLE, Fla — The Florida Department of Health reports today the cumulative number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa County is 6,590, 45 new cases since yesterday. The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Niceville and Valparaiso is 892.

Statewide, 4,651 new cases were reported.

The DOH reports the total number of COVID-19 related deaths in Okaloosa County is 130, no change.

Based on population, Okaloosa should be recording 21 or fewer new cases per day to achieve a positivity rate of below 10 cases per 100,000 in population.

The number of cumulative hospitalizations related to coronavirus in Okaloosa is reported to be 344, no change. The FDOH reports today there are 29 COVID-19 patients in Okaloosa County hospitals.

Okaloosa County mobile test dates

According to the FDOH, there were 274 tests returned yesterday in Okaloosa with 30 positives. The daily positivity rate is 10.95 percent, up from 7.0 percent the previous day.

A positivity rate of 10 percent or higher is considered an indicator of widespread transmission.

Okaloosa’s weekly positivity rate is 13.19 percent for the week ending Oct. 31, up from 9.59 the previous week, according to the FDOH.

Florida’s current weekly positivity rate is 5.6 percent (7-day moving average) according to Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center data.
