November 15 COVID-19 report for Okaloosa, Niceville

NICEVILLE, Fla — The Florida Department of Health reports today the cumulative number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa County is 7,615, 106 new cases since yesterday. The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Niceville and Valparaiso is 1,063

Statewide, 10,105 new cases were reported by the FDOH.

The DOH reports the total number of COVID-19 related deaths in Okaloosa County is 139, no change.

The number of cumulative hospitalizations related to coronavirus in Okaloosa is reported to be 389, six since yesterday. The FDOH reports today there are 40 COVID-19 patients in Okaloosa County hospitals.

Okaloosa County struggles to defeat COVID-19

According to the FDOH, there were 1083 test results returned yesterday in Okaloosa with 106 positives. The daily positivity rate is 9.79 percent, down from 23.2 percent the previous day.

As a rule of thumb, the threshold for the percent positive being “too high” is five percent according to the Centers for Disease Control.

According to the FDOH, Okaloosa’s weekly positivity rate is 14.94 percent for the week ending Nov. 14, up from 13.61 percent the previous week,

Florida’s current weekly positivity rate is 8.3 percent (7-day moving average) according to Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center data.
