FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. — The Eglin Federal Credit Union board of directors has appointed Cathie Staton as the Credit Union’s new President and CEO, effective Oct. 28, 2024. She will succeed Jerry Williams, who is retiring after 30 years of service with Eglin FCU, the last 10 years as President and CEO.
Mr Williams is credited with growing the credit union’s assets by over $1 billion, reaching nearly $2.9 billion and serving 124,000 members globally. He has been involved in area chambers of commerce, economic development councils, and nonprofit organizations.
Additionally, he held roles as Honorary Commander, 24SOW, Hurlburt Field, and Civic Leader, 33FW, Air Education and Training Command. In recognition of his support for military installations, he received the General Lewis H. Brereton Award from the Air Force Association Hurlburt Chapter.
“The Board would like to thank Jerry for his dedication and years of service advancing Eglin Federal Credit Union’s mission, and we are excited to announce the appointment of Cathie Staton as our new President and CEO,” said Board Chair Dan McInnis.
Ms Staton, who has been with Eglin FCU for over 35 years, has most recently served as Executive Vice President, overseeing strategic planning and project management. Her accomplishments include leading a brand refresh in 2019 and the expansion of the Field of Membership into Walton, Santa Rosa, and Escambia counties.
Staton has been part of the executive team for the past 22 years, overseeing Marketing, Membership, Community Development, and Risk Management. Her career includes serving as Branch Manager of the South Crestview Branch in 1989 and the Bluewater Bay Branch in 1997.
“I know that Cathie’s leadership will continue to advance Eglin FCU as a leader in our industry, offering unparalleled service to satisfy the needs and financial well-being of our members and employees,” added Mr McInnis.
A resident of Niceville for 37 years, Ms Staton holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Salisbury State University and a master’s degree in business management from Troy University. She has led a Women’s Bible Study at Crosspoint Church for over 12 years and holds national Compliance and Risk Management certifications.
