The Walton County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) said Vice/Narcotics investigators stopped a black-and-red moped for speeding on October 9, 2025.

The driver was identified as Todd Beeler, 45, of DeFuniak Springs, according to the WCSO.

During the stop, K9 Kenny was deployed and alerted to the presence of narcotics, the sheriff’s office said. Investigators searched the moped and reportedly located two small plastic bags hidden under the seat.

Investigators said the bags contained approximately 56 grams of a white crystal-like substance. The substance was sent to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) for testing.

The FDLE later notified investigators that the substance tested positive for methamphetamine, according to the WCSO. Investigators subsequently obtained a warrant charging Mr Beeler with trafficking in methamphetamine.

The WCSO said Beeler was located and arrested this week. He was given a $25,000 bond and remained incarcerated at the time of his release.

If convicted, Mr Beeler faces a mandatory seven-year prison sentence, according to the sheriff’s office.
