May 12 COVID-19, vaccination report for Okaloosa, Niceville

NICEVILLE, Fla — The Florida Department of Health on Wednesday reported 30 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa County. There are seven new cases in Niceville and Valparaiso.

The FDOH reports 664 vaccinations were administered in Okaloosa County the previous day. The cumulative number of people vaccinated in Okaloosa is 63,527. The number of people who have completed the vaccination series in Okaloosa is 51,986, according to FDOH data.

The cumulative number of COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa is 20,652.

The FDOH reports the total number of people killed by COVID-19 in Okaloosa is 363, no change since the previous report.

Statewide, 3,184 new cases were reported by the FDOH. The current cumulative total is 2,278,549 The total number of Florida residents who have died from COVID-19 in the state is 35,882.

The cumulative number of hospitalizations in Okaloosa is 745, three more since the previous day. Currently, there are 11 COVID-19 patients in Okaloosa County hospitals.

According to the FDOH, since the previous report, there were 428 test results returned in Okaloosa with 25 positives. The daily positivity rate is 5.84 percent.

According to the FDOH, Okaloosa’s weekly positivity rate is 5.45 percent for the week ending May 9, down from 5.53 percent the previous week.

Florida’s current weekly positivity rate is 6.7 percent  (7-day moving average) according to Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center data.
