March 4 COVID-19, vaccination report for Okaloosa, Niceville

NICEVILLE, Fla — The Florida Department of Health on Thursday reported 35 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa County. There are seven new cases in Niceville and Valparaiso.

The cumulative number of COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa is 19,125.

The FDOH reports the total number of people killed by COVID-19 in Okaloosa is 328, no change since the previous report.

Statewide, 6,118 new cases were reported by the FDOH. The current cumulative total is 1,930,232. The total number of Florida residents who have died from COVID-19 in the state is 31,387.

The cumulative number of hospitalizations in Okaloosa is 687, two since the previous day. Currently, there are 23 COVID-19 patients in Okaloosa County hospitals.

Vaccination data will be updated once it is released by the FDOH.

According to the FDOH, since the previous report, there were 578 test results returned in Okaloosa with 78 positives. The daily positivity rate is 13.49 percent.

As a rule of thumb, the threshold for the percent positive being “too high” is five percent according to the Centers for Disease Control.

According to the FDOH, Okaloosa’s weekly positivity rate is 12.22 percent for the week ending Feb. 27, down from 13.28 percent the previous week.
