NICEVILLE, Fla — The Florida Department of Health on Tuesday reported 108 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa County. There are 14 new cases in Niceville and Valparaiso.
The cumulative number of COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa is 19,008.
The FDOH reports the total number of people killed by COVID-19 in Okaloosa is 327, no change since the previous report.
Vaccination data will be updated once it is released by the FDOH.
Statewide, 7,179 new cases were reported by the FDOH. The current cumulative total is 1,918,100. The total number of Florida residents who have died from COVID-19 in the state is 31,135.
The cumulative number of hospitalizations in Okaloosa is 685, one more since the previous day. Currently, there are 19 COVID-19 patients in Okaloosa County hospitals.

According to the FDOH, since the previous report, there were 723 test results returned in Okaloosa with 108 positives. The daily positivity rate is 14.94 percent.
As a rule of thumb, the threshold for the percent positive being “too high” is five percent according to the Centers for Disease Control.
According to the FDOH, Okaloosa’s weekly positivity rate is 12.22 percent for the week ending Feb. 27, down from 13.28 percent the previous week.
Florida’s current weekly positivity rate is 6.2 percent (7-day moving average) according to Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center data.
