January 24 COVID-19, vaccination report for Okaloosa, Niceville

NICEVILLE, Fla — The Florida Department of Health on Sunday reported 105 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa County. There are 27 new cases in Niceville and Valparaiso.

The FDOH reports 734 people received vaccinations in Okaloosa County on Saturday. The cumulative number of people vaccinated in Okaloosa is 12,450, and 522 people have completed the vaccination series.

The cumulative number of COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa is 15,932.

The FDOH reports the total number of people killed by COVID-19 in Okaloosa is 276, no change.

Statewide, 9,535 new cases were reported by the FDOH. The current cumulative total is 1,649,449. The total number of Florida residents who have died from COVID-19 in the state is 25,293.

The cumulative number of hospitalizations in Okaloosa is 599, three since Saturday. Currently, there are 51 COVID-19 patients in Okaloosa County hospitals.

According to the FDOH, there were 801 test results returned in Okaloosa yesterday with 105 positives. The daily positivity rate is 13.11 percent.

As a rule of thumb, the threshold for the percent positive being “too high” is five percent according to the Centers for Disease Control.

According to the FDOH, Okaloosa’s weekly positivity rate is 19.96 percent for the week ending January 23, down from 21.79 percent the previous week.

Florida’s current weekly positivity rate is 10.3 percent (7-day moving average) according to Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center data.
