January 23 COVID-19, vaccination report for Okaloosa, Niceville

NICEVILLE, Fla — The Florida Department of Health on Saturday reported 98 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa County. There are 19 new cases in Niceville and Valparaiso.

The FDOH reports 436 people received vaccinations in Okaloosa County on Friday. The cumulative number of people vaccinated in Okaloosa is 11,515, and 493 people have completed the vaccination series.

The cumulative number of COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa is 15,827.

The FDOH reports the total number of people killed by COVID-19 in Okaloosa is 276, six more since Friday.

Statewide, 12,311 new cases were reported by the FDOH. The current cumulative total is 1,639,914. The total number of Florida residents who have died from COVID-19 in the state is 25,164.

The cumulative number of hospitalizations in Okaloosa is 596, one since Friday. Currently, there are 49 COVID-19 patients in Okaloosa County hospitals.

According to the FDOH, there were 806 test results returned in Okaloosa yesterday with 101 positives. The daily positivity rate is 12.53 percent.

As a rule of thumb, the threshold for the percent positive being “too high” is five percent according to the Centers for Disease Control.

According to the FDOH, Okaloosa’s weekly positivity rate is 21.79 percent for the week ending January 16, down from 22.05 percent the previous week.

Florida’s current weekly positivity rate is 11.1 percent (7-day moving average) according to Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center data.
