MARY ESTHER, Fla. — The Florida Department of Health in Okaloosa County (DOH-Okaloosa) has lifted a health advisory for Santa Rosa Sound near A-21 Road in unincorporated Mary Esther after water sampling reportedly showed bacterial levels below the advisory threshold.
According to DOH-Okaloosa, recent sampling of the affected waters resulted in bacterial levels below the advisory level, allowing the agency to lift the notice issued earlier this week.
The advisory had been issued following a wastewater release near Santa Rosa Sound. Drinking water was not affected during the advisory period.
Residents and visitors seeking more information about the potential health effects of wastewater overflow are encouraged to contact DOH-Okaloosa at 850-833-9247 or visit the Florida Department of Health website.
The Florida Department of Health said the agency works to protect, promote, and improve the health of all people in Florida through integrated state, county, and community efforts.
