The district said kindergartner Claire Grelle earned statewide recognition for her artwork celebrating Florida’s contributions to America as part of the nation’s upcoming 250th anniversary.

The America250FL Art Contest invited kindergarten through fifth-grade students across Florida to create artwork reflecting the state’s history, heritage, and impact on the nation through creative expression.

Claire’s artwork was selected from entries submitted statewide, according to the Okaloosa County School District.

“We are incredibly proud of Claire,” Superintendent Marcus Chambers said.

“Being one of only six statewide winners is an extraordinary honor, especially for a kindergartner. Claire’s creativity and talent are inspiring, and she represents the best of Destin Elementary and Okaloosa County School District.”

As part of the recognition, Claire received a two-year Florida College Plan scholarship from the Florida Prepaid College Foundation.

The district said Claire was also recognized by Gov. Ron DeSantis.

Claire’s teacher, Ms Jennifer Huffman, also shared excitement about the achievement, according to the district.
