WALTON COUNTY, Fla.— The Walton County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) has arrested a Freeport man who allegedly revealed a firearm during a snatch-and-grab robbery on a Walton County beach Monday night, the WCSO said in a statement.
According to the WCSO, Uriah Alam Maurise Frith, 17, of Freeport, was quickly apprehended and arrested.
The WCSO said deputies responded to Mystic Cobalt Street in Watercolor around 11:30 p.m. Monday following a report of an armed robbery.
Two individuals, both 16 years old, reportedly told deputies they were walking on the beach around 11 p.m. when they were approached by a tall black male with short dreadlocks wearing black gym shorts and a black t-shirt.
The subject allegedly showed the youngsters a firearm tucked into his waistband and then snatched the belongings out of the hands of one of the individuals before running off.
Through social media and open-source investigative techniques, investigators said that they were able to identify Frith as a person of interest.
The WCSO said Frith’s vehicle was located near the intersection of County Road 283 S and 30A where investigators conducted a traffic stop.
According to the WCSO, a black handgun was found under Frith’s seat which Frith reportedly admitted was a BB gun. Firth also allegedly admitted to taking $70 from the victim which was reportedly found in his pocket.
Frith was arrested for robbery with a firearm. He was transported and booked into the Walton County Jail.
