Timothy Paul Longworth, 43, of Tampa, pleaded guilty to bank robbery on Friday, said United States Attorney Roger B. Handberg. Longworth faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in federal prison. A sentencing date has not yet been set.

According to court documents, at approximately 9 a.m. on July 8, 2022, Longworth entered a bank on Dale Mabry Highway in Tampa, jumped over the teller’s counter, and demanded that the bank’s employees open their cash drawers.

Reportedly, after obtaining approximately $4,000 from the bank, Longworth fled the scene and escaped in a van allegedly driven by an indicted co-conspirator, John Kennedy Braun.

Braun is awaiting trial for his alleged role in the robbery.

An indictment is merely a formal charge that a defendant has committed one or more violations of federal criminal law. Every defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

This case was investigated by the Hillsborough County Sherriff’s Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant United States Attorney David P. Sullivan is prosecuting it.
