The OCSO said the alleged battery happened at a residence on Gibson Road during a dispute over car keys. Deputies said the victim, who is eight months pregnant, was hit in the face multiple times.

According to the OCSO, Melvin Cruz Hernandez left the scene after the incident.

Deputies later located Mr Cruz Hernandez on Okaloosa Island and took him into custody, the OCSO said.

The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office said Mr Cruz Hernandez was also found to have overstayed his visa.
