Electric skateboard rider critically injured in John Sims Parkway crash

NICEVILLE, Fla. — A man riding an electric skateboard was critically injured in a collision with a Toyota Sequoia on John Sims Parkway near Country Club Drive, the Niceville Police Department (NPD) announced.

According to the announcement, the incident occurred on September 8, 2025, at approximately 5:45 p.m. on State Road 20 (John Sims Parkway), near Country Club Drive.

A silver Toyota Sequoia was reportedly traveling westbound and entered the right-turn lane. At the same time, a male on an electric skateboard was traveling eastbound in that same westbound turn lane, the NPD said.

Both reportedly attempted evasive maneuvers to avoid each other, but their simultaneous movements resulted in a collision, according to Niceville police..

The male on the electric skateboard was transported to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center and reportedly remained in critical condition on Tuesday. Next of kin have been notified.
