Edge students craft cards for hometown heroes [PICTORIAL]

Students at Edge Elementary School in Niceville were among several schools which participated in the local Holiday for Heroes drive. At Edge and other schools, students handcrafted cards for deployed military members from our area. We hope you enjoy this pictorial featuring some of the fifth-graders at Edge Elementary who took part and their handmade Christmas cards.

Fifth-grade students from Edge Elementary School presented Senior Master Sgt. Zachary Pate, Master Sgt. Larry Carpenter and Master Sgt. Natasha Crumpton from Eglin Air Force Base and Duke Field holiday cards for the Holiday for Heroes drive.

Over 6,400 cards will be delivered to Eglin and Hurlburt Field troops deployed overseas.

Marcus Chambers, Okaloosa County School District assistant superintendent, loads a box of holiday cards collected from elementary schools county-wide during the Holiday for Heroes drive. More than 6,400 cards were made by the students for deployed military members from Eglin Air Force Base and Hurlburt Field.
