NICEVILLE, Fla. — The Okaloosa County School District is recognizing military-connected students and their families throughout April as part of the Month of the Military Child.
A key event is Purple Up Day on April 15, when students, staff, and community members are encouraged to wear purple in support of military-dependent students, according to the Okaloosa County School District.
Purple symbolizes all branches of the military and serves as a visible show of support for children whose families serve.
Throughout the month, schools across the district will host spirit days, special events, and educational activities designed to highlight the experiences of military children and their families.
These activities are intended to promote understanding, recognition, and a sense of belonging while fostering a supportive and inclusive school environment.
“Military children are some of the most resilient and courageous students in our schools,” said Superintendent Marcus Chambers.
“They balance the challenges of school with the sacrifices and demands that come with military life, often transitioning between states and even countries. In Okaloosa, we are honored to support these children as their parents serve and defend our nation.”
The district is inviting the community to help recognize and support military-connected students throughout April.
