NICEVILLE, Fla — The Florida Department of Health Sunday reported 36 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa County. In Niceville and Valparaiso, there are 10 new cases.
The cumulative number of cases in Okaloosa is 12,325.
The FDOH reports the total number of people killed by COVID-19 in Okaloosa is 224, one more since the previous report.
Statewide, 7,391 new cases were reported by the FDOH. The current cumulative total is 1,271,979 cases.
The cumulative number of hospitalizations in Okaloosa is 501, no change. Currently, there are 45 COVID-19 patients in Okaloosa County hospitals.

According to the FDOH, there were 422 test results returned in Okaloosa with 39 positives. The daily positivity rate is 9.24 percent.
As a rule of thumb, the threshold for the percent positive being “too high” is five percent according to the Centers for Disease Control.
According to the FDOH, Okaloosa’s weekly positivity rate is 19.4 percent for the week ending Dec. 26, up from 17.27 percent the previous week.
Florida’s current weekly positivity rate is 9.4 percent (7-day moving average) according to Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center data.
