NICEVILLE, Fla — The Florida Department of Health Saturday reported 188 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa County over the previous two days. No report was issued on Friday, Dec. 25. In Niceville and Valparaiso, there are 46 new cases.
The cumulative number of cases in Okaloosa is 12,289.
The FDOH reports the total number of people killed by COVID-19 in Okaloosa is 223, eight more since Thursday.
Statewide, 17,042 new cases were reported by the FDOH. The current cumulative total is 1,264,588 cases.
The cumulative number of hospitalizations in Okaloosa is 501, five more since the previous report. Currently, there are 46 COVID-19 patients in Okaloosa County hospitals.
Okaloosa County drive-thru testing
According to the FDOH, there were 257 test results returned in Okaloosa with 42 positives. The daily positivity rate is 16.34 percent.
As a rule of thumb, the threshold for the percent positive being “too high” is five percent according to the Centers for Disease Control.
According to the FDOH, Okaloosa’s weekly positivity rate is 17.27 for the week ending Dec. 19, down from 18.31 percent the previous week.
Florida’s current weekly positivity rate is 9.1 percent (7-day moving average) according to Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center data.
