NICEVILLE, Fla — The Florida Department of Health today reported 123 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa County. In Niceville and Valparaiso, there are 23 new cases.
The cumulative number of cases in Okaloosa is 11,146.

The FDOH reports the total number of people killed by COVID-19 in Okaloosa is 198, seven more since yesterday.
Statewide, 13,148 new cases were reported by the FDOH. The current cumulative total is 1,168,483 cases.
The cumulative number of hospitalizations in Okaloosa is 475, four since yesterday. Currently, there are 55 COVID-19 patients in Okaloosa County hospitals.

According to the FDOH, since the previous report, there were 862 test results returned in Okaloosa with 122 positives. The daily positivity rate is 14.15 percent, down from 29.84 percent the previous day.
As a rule of thumb, the threshold for the percent positive being “too high” is five percent according to the Centers for Disease Control.
According to the FDOH, Okaloosa’s weekly positivity rate is 18.31 percent for the week ending Dec. 12, down from 22.68 percent the previous week.
Florida’s current weekly positivity rate is 9.4 percent (7-day moving average) according to Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center data.
