December 13 COVID-19 report for Okaloosa, Niceville

NICEVILLE, Fla — The Florida Department of Health yesterday reported 81 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa County. In Niceville and Valparaiso, there are 19 new cases.

The cumulative number of cases in Okaloosa is 10,728.

The FDOH reports the total number of COVID-19 related deaths in Okaloosa is 185, no change.

Statewide, 8,958 new cases were reported by the FDOH. The current cumulative total is 1,125,931 cases.

The cumulative number of hospitalizations in Okaloosa is 464, three more since yesterday. Currently, there are 51 COVID-19 patients in Okaloosa County hospitals.

According to the FDOH, since the previous report, there were 835 test results returned in Okaloosa with 80 positives. The daily positivity rate is 9.58 percent, down from 18.4 percent the previous day.

As a rule of thumb, the threshold for the percent positive being “too high” is five percent according to the Centers for Disease Control.

According to the FDOH, Okaloosa’s weekly positivity rate is 18.31 percent for the week ending Dec. 12, down from 22.68 percent the previous week.

Florida’s current weekly positivity rate is 8.7 percent (7-day moving average) according to Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center data.
