EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. — The 96th Security Forces Squadron honored the life and legacy of Staff Sgt Dianna Barcenas during a tribute ceremony Jan. 28, dedicating a patrol boat in her name to ensure her memory remains a permanent part of the Defender family.
According to Eglin Air Force Base, the squadron held the ceremony to recognize Staff Sgt Barcenas’ impact on Team Eglin and the 96th Security Forces Squadron.
As part of the tribute, members of the 96th Security Forces Squadron escorted her father, Gustavo Barcenas, on a sunset patrol Jan. 28 aboard the boat dedicated in her name.
The patrol boat, now bearing the name of Staff Sgt Barcenas, will continue to serve while standing as a lasting reminder of her service and sacrifice.
Eglin officials said the dedication ensures her legacy lives on within the unit and across the installation.
