FLORIDA — The recreational harvest of greater amberjack in the Gulf of Mexico will close on Nov. 1, with Oct. 31 marking the final day for harvesting this season in both state and federal waters.
In July, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) issued an executive order to align the 2024-25 recreational season in state waters with the federal season, running from Sept. 1 to Oct. 31, as approved by the Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council. This updated season aims to support the ongoing effort to rebuild the greater amberjack stock in the Gulf.
