WALTON COUNTY, Fla. — The Walton County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) has launched an online incident reporting system.
Residents and visitors may now report some crimes and complaints without leaving their houses or places of business.
According to the WCSO, its Desk Officer Reporting System (DORS) allows users to report a specific set of incidents through a user-friendly online portal. DORS aims to help the WCSO provide a better service to residents and make filing a crime report easier for victims, the WCSO said.
The WCSO said that the technology not only gives people a handy way to file reports on their own schedule but also frees up deputies to respond to high-priority demands for assistance.
The following types of reports are accepted through the WCSO’s online reporting system:
- Animal Complaints
- Harassing Phone Calls
- Fraudulent Use of Credit/Debit Card
- Identify Theft
- Illegal Dumping
- Lost/Missing Property
- Lost/Stolen License Plates
- Mail Theft
- Misdemeanor Thefts
- Narcotic Tips
- Shoplifting (Retail Theft)
- Scams
- Traffic Complaint
- Supplement Reports
The online reporting system cannot be used if there are known suspects related to the crime being reported (unless it’s a narcotics tip). It should not be used in place of an emergency or during an in-progress crime, said the WCSO.
The system is available on the WCSO website at https://waltonso.org/online-reporting-system/ and is also available in Spanish at https://waltonso.org/sistema-de-informes-en-linea/.
