Hunter Carmichael, 21, of Holt, was taken into custody after being tracked by K9 teams from the Florida Highway Patrol, Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO), Walton County Sheriff’s Office, and Okaloosa Correctional Institution, the OCSO said.

According to the OCSO, Carmichael was wanted for aggravated assault, firing missiles into an occupied conveyance, and discharging a firearm in public. He allegedly tried to run from an attempted warrant service but was ultimately captured.

When OCSO deputies tried to serve felony warrants on Tuesday morning, Carmichael reportedly took off into a wooded area behind his home at 391 Dove Run in Holt. He was captured about four hours later at 4088 East Street, the OCSO said.

According to the OCSO, the original warrants are connected to a January 28 shots-fired call near Dove Run Road. The victim reportedly said Carmichael pointed a firearm at him and tracked his vehicle as he passed him. He said Carmichael fired a bullet into the back of his truck from approximately 50 feet away.

A bullet was found lodged in the tailgate, the OCSO said.

Additional charges are pending.
