NICEVILLE, Fla. — Jasmine Lane, a teacher at James E. Plew Elementary School in Niceville, has been named to Curriculum Associates’ 2023 Class of Extraordinary Educators.

According to Curriculum Associates, a school curriculum company, its Extraordinary Educators program celebrates and connects exemplary teachers in Grades K–8 from around the country. Lane is one of two Florida teachers named to the 2023 class, Curriculum Associates said.

“I am honored to have been selected for the Extraordinary Educators program by Curriculum Associates!” said Lane.

“To be recognized for the growth my students have made and the ways I’ve engaged them in their instruction is very encouraging! I’m looking forward to learning new strategies to implement that will continue to bridge gaps in learning and provide enrichment to my students who need to be challenged.”

Chosen from hundreds of nominations, Lane is among 30 educators from 22 states selected for exhibiting best-in-class use of Curriculum Associates’ i-Ready®, i-Ready Classroom Mathematics, and/or Ready® materials.

According to the company,  this year’s class of educators illustrates growth and achievement via formal assessments, demonstrates innovation and engagement practices for students, serves as evangelists for high expectations and student achievement, champions equity, and has taught for at least two years.

Lane is a fourth-grade math and science teacher at Plew Elementary.

“Teachers are true rockstars,” said Emily McCann, vice president of educator community at Curriculum Associates.

“This year’s Extraordinary Educators are no exception—they were chosen from hundreds of nominations and represent the best of the best.”

With nearly 340 years of combined teaching experience, this year’s class of Extraordinary Educators includes classroom teachers, special education teachers, and instructional specialists. All of the educators were ultimately selected by an advisory board featuring leaders from Curriculum Associates, previously inducted Extraordinary Educators, and a college student pursuing a degree in urban education, Curriculum Associates said.

The Extraordinary Educators will have continued access to a network of peers from around the country to collaborate, connect, and learn from throughout the year, as well as access to professional development opportunities from Curriculum Associates. They will also be invited to participate and present at the Extraordinary Educators Leadership Summit and other professional learning events.

This is the fourth year of the Extraordinary Educators program. This year’s class joins 110 additional educators from across the country in receiving this recognition.

According to Curriculum Associates, its programs are used in the majority of Florida schools.
