Eric Sutton Jr., 20, of Freeport, was arrested for dealing in stolen property, the Walton County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) said in a statement.

According to the WCSO, a Walton County Sheriff’s Deputy attempted to stop a vehicle for an expired tag near a Burger King on U.S. Highway 98 in Santa Rosa Beach on Friday morning.

When the vehicle came to a stop, the WCSO said both the driver and passenger got out quickly and began briskly walking into Burger King.

The deputy reported detaining both men and allegedly located a Glock handgun during the traffic stop. The WCSO said the gun was reported stolen in DeFuniak Springs earlier this year.

Sutton was arrested after telling the deputies the gun was sold to him, the WCSO said.

He was given a $5,000 bond.
