NICEVILLE, Fla. — Wreaths Across America’s Twin Cities chapter has announced updated ceremony times for its annual wreath-laying events on Saturday, December 13, to allow community members to attend both ceremonies and the Niceville Christmas Parade.
The nonprofit organization, whose mission is “Remember, Honor, Teach,” places holiday wreaths on veterans’ graves each December to honor fallen service members and educate future generations.
According to the Twin Cities chapter, both wreath ceremonies were moved earlier in the day so participants can take part in each ceremony without conflicting with parade activities.
The updated schedule now calls for the Sunset Cemetery ceremony in Valparaiso to begin at 8:30 a.m., followed by the Heritage Gardens Funeral Home, Cemetery & Crematory ceremony in Niceville at noon.
The chapter’s goal this year is to ensure wreaths are placed on every veteran’s grave at Heritage Gardens in Niceville and Sunset Cemetery in Valparaiso.
In addition, wreaths will be placed at the entrance gates of Early Cemetery, Rocky Cemetery, and Niceville Community Cemetery, also known locally as Sweeney Cemetery.
More than 1,000 wreaths are expected to be placed across the Twin Cities area this year.
More from Niceville
Volunteers from the Niceville Exchange Club are among those helping place wreaths on veterans’ graves in honor of their service. Additional volunteers are welcome at both ceremonies, and families are encouraged to take part in honoring local veterans.
