FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. — The Florida Department of Health in Okaloosa County (DOH-Okaloosa) has issued a water quality advisory for three local parks due to elevated bacteria levels.
According to DOH-Okaloosa, tests conducted on March 17 indicate that water at Liza Jackson Park in Fort Walton Beach, Clement E. Taylor Park in Destin, and Lincoln Park in Valparaiso do not meet the state’s recreational water quality criteria for Enterococcus bacteria.
The advisory warns residents and visitors that contact with the water at these locations may pose potential health risks. Officials recommend avoiding swimming and other water-related activities in the affected areas until further notice.
