WALTON COUNTY, Fla. — A DeFuniak Springs man was arrested Tuesday afternoon after he crashed a stolen vehicle and fled into nearby woods in Mossy Head, said the Walton County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO).

When he was spotted at Love’s Travel Stop, Dillon Grimes, 32, reportedly was driving a car stolen from Jefferson Parish, Louisiana. WCSO deputies attempted to stop the vehicle near Walden Road and Highway 90, but Mr Grimes is said to have fled at a high rate of speed, crashing near East Larkspur before fleeing on foot.

The WCSO Drone Unit, Walton and Okaloosa Correctional, and Florida Highway Patrol K-9 Teams assisted in the search, and Grimes was apprehended shortly after.

The WCSO said Mr Grimes also had active warrants for manufacturing methamphetamine and was transported to the Walton County Jail. Additional charges are said to be forthcoming.
