WALTON COUNTY, Fla. — The Walton County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) is highlighting a deputy’s compassion after a local resident shared how a routine traffic stop turned into an act of kindness before a medical appointment.
According to the WCSO, the driver, identified as Mr. Steele, was on his way to a colonoscopy appointment when he was stopped for having no taillights. Already anxious about the procedure, he was met by Deputy Nadera, who handled the situation with patience and understanding.
Instead of issuing a citation, Deputy Nadera reportedly ensured the driver was safe to continue his trip, following him to the county line to make sure everything went smoothly.
After the appointment, hospital staff informed Mr. Steele that Deputy Nadera had called to confirm he arrived on time and that everything went well. Mr. Steele later contacted the sheriff’s office to share his appreciation for the deputy’s care and professionalism.
The sheriff’s office said the story drew an outpouring of support from the community, with hundreds of social media comments praising Deputy Nadera’s compassion and commitment to service.
“It doesn’t take much. Be a good person. Look out for each other. Be understanding. Have consideration. Show gratitude,” the WCSO said in a statement.
“We are thankful for the opportunity to serve our community. We’re here if you need us.”
