The Valparaiso Garden Club will open its Standard Flower Show, “The Joy and Art of Gardening,” on April 26, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., in the fellowship hall of Trinity Presbyterian Church, 44 Southview Ave. in Valparaiso.
The 2014 show will feature 36 floral designs plus 12 artistic crafts exhibits, photographs and work by youth gardeners. A guided tour through the show will begin at 10 a.m. The public is invited and admission is free.
Also scheduled is the formal dedication of the garden in the backyard of the Heritage Museum of Northwest Florida, 115 Westview Ave. in Valparaiso. The garden, sponsored by Valparaiso Garden Club, will be an official exhibit of the museum. Featured will be historic herbs and plants as well as plants to attract pollinators. Dedication and opening of the garden will take place April 26 at 1 p.m. Winner of the “Name That Garden” contest will be announced at that time. Join us to learn about the purposes and plans for this important garden.
Both events are part of the annual “Saturday in the Park” festival held in Perrine Park. All activities revolve around the park and are within easy walking access. Come to see the flower show, learn about the garden, and enjoy the fun and festivities of the festival.
