US 98 traffic advisory for Bay, Walton, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa

US HIGHWAY 98, Fla. — Motorists traveling on US 98 along the Emerald Coast may encounter traffic disruptions this week as crews perform construction and maintenance activities in Bay, Walton, Okaloosa, and Santa Rosa counties, according to the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT).

BAY COUNTY:

— U.S. 98 Widening east of Nautilus Street to east of Richard Jackson Boulevard
U.S. 98 westbound drivers between Alf Coleman Road and Clara Avenue will encounter intermittent lane closures from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday, April 8, through Thursday, April 11. Construction crews will be installing a low-profile barrier wall.

— U.S. 98 Routine Bridge Maintenance over Watson Bayou
Drivers will encounter intermittent lane closures east of State Road 77 on Sunday, April 7, and Monday, April 8, from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. for routine maintenance.

— U.S. 98 Routine Bridge Maintenance over Thomas Drive
Drivers will encounter intermittent lane closures from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. on Tuesday, April 9, and Wednesday, April 10, for routine maintenance.

WALTON COUNTY:

— U.S. 98 Widening from Mack Bayou Road to County Road 30A
Drivers may encounter intermittent, alternating lane closures, Sunday, April 7 through Thursday, April 11, from 7:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. for paving operations and signalization work at the following locations:

  • U.S. 98 between Mack Bayou Road and County Road 30A
  • Mack Bayou Road between U.S. 98 and Mack Bayou Loop
  • Goldsby Road between U.S. 98 and Commercial Parkway

— U.S. 98 Resurfacing from east of U.S. 331 to Peach Creek
Drivers may encounter intermittent U.S. 98 lane closures from Sunday, April 7, through Thursday, April 11, from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. for paving operations.

OKALOOSA COUNTY:

— Brooks Bridge Replacement Project
Drivers may encounter U.S. 98 alternating intermittent lane closures between Ferry Road and Pier Road, Sunday, April 7 through Thursday, April 11, between 9 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. for utility work and construction activities.

SANTA ROSA COUNTY

— U.S. 98 Widening from Bayshore Road to Portside Drive
Motorists will encounter the following traffic impacts:

  • Median and turn-lane closures from Bayshore Road to Tiger Lake Drive
  • Intermittent lane closures and additional median closures between Bayshore Road and Tiger Lake Drive Sunday, April 7, through Friday, April 12, from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. for stormwater drainage improvements and paving operations

All activities are weather-dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to use caution, especially at night, when traveling through a work zone and to watch for construction workers and equipment entering and exiting the roadway.
