US 98 drivers: FDOT traffic advisories from Panama City to Pensacola

Crews have installed a directional barrier in the U.S. 98 median at the Goldsby Road intersection, removing the left-turn movement from Goldsby Road to U.S. 98 (eastbound). In this temporary configuration, drivers on Goldsby Road southbound will be limited to right-turn-only movements at the U.S. 98 intersection. (Contributed)

US HIGHWAY 98, Fla.—Motorists traveling on US 98 along the Emerald Coast should be prepared for potential delays and traffic disruptions this week due to ongoing construction and maintenance activities, according to the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). This comprehensive advisory compiles FDOT’s latest updates for Bay, Walton, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, and Escambia counties, ensuring you have the most up-to-date information before you hit the road.

BAY COUNTY:

— U.S. 98 west of Tyndall Drive-Airey Avenue to east of Louisiana Avenue
U.S. 98 drivers may encounter intermittent lane closures between Tyndall Drive- Airey Avenue and Louisiana Avenue through the end of July.

— U.S. 98 Widening from Mandy Lane to east of Nautilus Street
Drivers may encounter intermittent, alternating single-lane closures for the following operations:

  • Gulf Boulevard will be under construction for drainage installation from Monday, June 10, through Friday, June 14. Drivers will have two access lanes but should exercise caution while driving through the construction zone
  • Nautilus Cove Apartments/U.S. 98 Intersection – The turnout at Nautilus Cove Apartments will be partially closed for drainage installation from Monday, June 10, through Wednesday, June 12. Drivers should use the entrance on Nautilus Street for access to the apartment complex
  • Nautilus Street – Drivers will encounter lane closures between Nautilus Cove apartments and Gulf Boulevard from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday, June 9. Crews will be removing an existing traffic signal mast arm

— U.S. 98 (Panama City Beach Parkway) Resurfacing from Walton County Line to Heather Drive
Due to asphalt paving activities, drivers will encounter nighttime intermittent lane closures from Monday, June 10, through Thursday, June 13.

WALTON COUNTY:

— U.S. 98 Widening from Mack Bayou Road to County Road 30A
Drivers may encounter intermittent, alternating lane closures, Sunday, June 9 through Thursday, June 13, from 7:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. for signalization work and for crews to place thermoplastic striping at the following locations:

  • U.S. 98 between Mack Bayou Road and County Road 30A
  • Mack Bayou Road between U.S. 98 and Mack Bayou Loop
  • Goldsby Road between U.S. 98 and Commercial Parkway

OKALOOSA COUNTY:

— Brooks Bridge Replacement Project
Drivers may encounter the following traffic disruptions, Sunday, June 9 through Thursday, June 13, between 9 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. for utility work and construction activities:

  • U.S. 98, alternating intermittent lane closures between Ferry Road and Pier Road
  • Santa Rosa Boulevard, alternating lane closures from east of Amberjack Drive to Ross Marler Park

— U.S. 98 Resurfacing from Josie Road to Florida Place Southeast
Drivers may encounter intermittent U.S. 98 lane closures between Josie Road in Mary Esther and Florida Place Southeast in Fort Walton Beach from Sunday, June 9, through Thursday, June 13, between 8 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. for concrete work, milling, and paving operations.

SANTA ROSA COUNTY

— U.S. 98 Widening from Bayshore Road to Portside Drive
Motorists will encounter the following traffic impacts:

  • Median and turn-lane closures from Bayshore Road to Tiger Lake Drive
  • Intermittent lane closures and additional median closures between Bayshore Road and Tiger Lake Drive Sunday, June 9, through Friday, June 14, from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. for stormwater drainage improvements and paving operations

ESCAMBIA COUNTY

No FDOT advisories were issued.

All activities are weather-dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to use caution, especially at night, when traveling through a work zone and to watch for construction workers and equipment entering and exiting the roadway.
