WALTON COUNTY, Fla.—The U.S. 98 widening project in Walton County has concluded.

On Friday, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) said it has completed a $16.7 million project to widen and improve 1.8 miles of U.S. 98 between Mack Bayou Road and County Road 30A.

According to the FDOT, improvements included:

  • Widening U.S. 98 from four to six travel lanes
  • Constructing new sidewalks on the north side of U.S. 98 and a new 10-foot-wide shared-use path on the south side of the roadway
  • Intersection improvements and upgraded pedestrian crossings at the three signalized intersections to comply with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements
