WALTON COUNTY, Fla.—The U.S. 98 widening project in Walton County has concluded.

On Friday, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) said it has completed a $16.7 million project to widen and improve 1.8 miles of U.S. 98 between Mack Bayou Road and County Road 30A.

According to the FDOT, improvements included:

Widening U.S. 98 from four to six travel lanes
Constructing new sidewalks on the north side of U.S. 98 and a new 10-foot-wide shared-use path on the south side of the roadway
Intersection improvements and upgraded pedestrian crossings at the three signalized intersections to comply with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements
Drainage improvements
