OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. — The Florida Department of Transportation has announced that drivers will encounter traffic disruptions on the following state roads in Okaloosa and Walton counties this week as crews perform construction and maintenance activities.
OKALOOSA COUNTY TRAFFIC ADVISORY FOR AUGUST 25-31, 2024
— Brooks Bridge Replacement Project
Drivers may encounter the following traffic disruptions, Sunday, Aug. 25 through Thursday, Aug. 29, between 9 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. for utility work and construction activities:
- U.S. 98 alternating lane closures between Ferry Road and Pier Road
- Santa Rosa Boulevard alternating lane closures east of Amberjack Drive to Ross Marler Park
— Mid-Bay Bridge Rehabilitation Project
Drivers may encounter intermittent lane closures on the Mid-Bay Bridge, Sunday, Aug. 25 through Thursday, Aug. 29, from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. for construction activities.
— Interstate 10 (I-10) Wilkerson Bluff Road Bridge Repairs
I-10 drivers will encounter alternating lane closures near the Wilkerson Bluff Road Bridge, from mile marker 48 to mile marker 51, Sunday, Aug. 25 through Thursday, Aug. 29, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. In addition, beginning Thursday, Aug. 29, at 6 a.m., I-10 east and westbound drivers will encounter a new diversion near the Wilkerson Bluff Road Bridge. This diversion will be in place for approximately two months.
— I-10 Resurfacing from west of Yellow River to east of Shoal River
Drivers will encounter alternating I-10 lane closures between mile markers 50 and 58, Sunday, Aug. 25 through Friday, Aug. 30, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for guardrail replacement.
— U.S. 98 Resurfacing from Josie Road to Florida Place Southeast
Drivers may encounter intermittent U.S. 98 lane closures between Josie Road in Mary Esther and Florida Place Southeast in Fort Walton Beach from Sunday, Aug. 25, through Thursday, Aug. 29, between 8 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. for signalization work and paving operations.
— Beal Parkway Intersection Improvements
Drivers may encounter intermittent Beal Parkway lane closures and traffic signal interruptions at Pelham Road and Lewis Street from Sunday, Aug. 25, through Thursday, Aug. 29, between 6:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. for signalization work. Law enforcement will be on-site to safely direct drivers through the work zone.
— State Road 85 Improvements from State Road 123 to U.S. 90
Drivers may encounter intermittent State Road 85 lane closures from Hospital Drive to U.S. 90 from Sunday, Aug. 25, through Thursday, Aug. 29, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. for manhole adjustments.
— Mary Esther Boulevard Resurfacing from U.S. 98 to Beal Parkway
Drivers may encounter intermittent lane closures on Mary Esther Boulevard for crews to place thermoplastic striping and perform traffic signalization work at the following locations and times:
- Sunday, Aug. 25 through Thursday, Aug. 29, from U.S. 98 to Hollywood Boulevard, between 7 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.
- Sunday, Aug. 25 through Saturday, Aug. 31, from Hollywood Boulevard to Beal Parkway, between 7 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.
— State Road 20 Routine Underground Maintenance at Tamarack Avenue in Niceville
Drivers will encounter intermittent westbound turn lane closures from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 27, for routine underground maintenance.
WALTON COUNTY TRAFFIC ADVISORY FOR AUGUST 25-31, 2024
— U.S. 331 Intersection Improvements from South of I-10 to U.S. 90
Drivers may encounter intermittent lane closures at the following locations, Sunday, Aug. 25 through Thursday, Aug. 29, between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. for manhole adjustments:
- U.S. 331 from south of I-10 to U.S. 90
- U.S. 90 from West Sloss Avenue to 11th Street
All activities are weather-dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to use caution, especially at night, when traveling through a work zone and to watch for construction workers and equipment entering and exiting the roadway.
