NICEVILLE, Fla. — Participants are being sought for the 2024 EOD Warrior Challenge, a four-and-a-quarter-mile ruck, half-mile swim, and four-mile run set for Saturday, April 27, 2024, in Niceville.
The Joint Service Association hosts this year’s event. It starts and ends in front of the EOD Memorial, located on Range Road. The start time is 9 a.m. Same-day on-site registration is 7 a.m. to 8:45 a.m., or register online here.
Registration is $45 per person (ages 0–17, $30).
Participants will make their way through the trails at Fred Gannon Rocky Bayou State Park while carrying a ruck weighing a minimum of 30 pounds (15 pounds for ages 17 or under). A ruck is any method of carrying the weight.
Next comes a half-mile swim using any floatation device required to get the swimmer down the Rocky Bayou Inlet. The event concludes with a four-mile run where a cheering crowd awaits the arrival of finishers at the finish line.
All participants should bring a second pair of running shoes and flotation devices—if needed—and a snorkel and fins. The race can be completed as an individual or as a team. Teams must have five members.
Trophies will be awarded to the top overall male and female finishers, the top three male and female finishers from each age group, and the top team. Age groups are under 17, 18–25, 26–30, 30–40, 40–50, and over 50.
All funds raised from the event support the EOD Warrior Foundation’s mission of helping EOD warriors and their families.
