NICEVILLE, Fla. — The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) said a FLOCK license plate reader alert led deputies to a stolen pickup truck and resulted in a drug-related arrest in Niceville.
The alert identified a blue Ford F-150 that had been reported stolen after it was not returned to a rental company in Valparaiso, according to the OCSO.
Deputies located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop near State Road 285 and College Boulevard.
The driver was identified as Eric Davis, 49.
Mr Davis was taken into custody.
During a search of the truck, deputies reportedly found a small amount of methamphetamine.
Davis is charged with grand theft of a motor vehicle and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription.
The OCSO said the case highlights how technology such as FLOCK license plate readers, along with coordination with partner agencies, including Northwest Florida State College Public Safety, can assist in recovering stolen property and supporting investigations.
All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
