WALTON COUNTY, Fla. — The Walton County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) reported a series of arrests and incidents across the county over a busy 24 hours, including a stolen vehicle recovery, drug arrests, a crash investigation, and a DUI.
According to the WCSO, deputies in District 1 conducted a traffic stop near Oakwood Lakes Boulevard and North Raphael Road and discovered a pickup truck with one of its VIN plates removed. The vehicle was confirmed stolen out of Bay County.
The driver was arrested and charged with grand theft of a motor vehicle and improper attachment of a tag, the WCSO said.
In a separate District 1 traffic stop at Highway 90 and Dr. Roberts Drive, deputies reportedly found marijuana and methamphetamine inside a passenger car. Additional narcotics were reportedly located during a search.
The driver was arrested on multiple drug-related charges, including possession with intent to distribute, according to the WCSO.
In District 3, deputies responded to a crash at Highway 98 and Tops’l Beach Boulevard after a pickup truck reportedly crossed into oncoming lanes and struck an SUV operating as an Uber.
The WCSO said the passenger in the SUV was found to have an active warrant and suspected methamphetamine. Traffic in the area was diverted for approximately two hours while the scene was cleared.
In District 4, deputies located a vehicle stopped on the shoulder near Forest Road 11 and Highway 98 and found the driver passed out behind the wheel.
After conducting field sobriety exercises, deputies arrested the driver for DUI, the WCSO said.
The Walton County Sheriff’s Office reminded residents ahead of the holiday weekend to make responsible choices.
All suspects are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
