SHALIMAR, Fla. — A Shalimar woman broke into a Shalimar garden shop—twice in less than a month– taking assorted plants, pots, and clippings, according to a report by the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.

Miranda Rice, 37, has been charged with two counts of burglary and one count of grand theft, the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) said.

Investigators said Rice broke into the Wildwood Garden Shoppe and Nursery on July 10, 2022, and again on August 7. She allegedly took more than $2,183 worth of pots and assorted plants.

Moreover, she reportedly took clippings from a large and costly Monstera, a tropical plant.

The OCSO said Rice took the items, ranging from ferns and palms to jasmine and hibiscus, from the business to her residence on 5th Street in Shalimar.

Rice was reportedly captured on surveillance video during both alleged break-ins and was showcased on Emerald Coast Crime Stoppers.
