Redfish release scheduled for tomorrow in Niceville

Niceville redfish release
A release of 10,000 juvenile redfish in Choctawhatchee Bay by the Coastal Conservation Association of Florida will take place on March 29, 12 noon, at Fred Gannon Rocky Bayou State Park in Niceville. (Coastal Conservation Association of Florida)

NICEVILLE, Fla.  – A release of 10,000 juvenile redfish will take place on Tuesday, March 29,  12 noon, at Fred Gannon Rocky Bayou State Park in Niceville.

The redfish release is hosted by Coastal Conservation Association of Florida. It was first announced in February. The CCA confirmed this morning that the release will take place as scheduled tomorrow.

The Coastal Resource Team of the Okaloosa County Tourist Development Department, Destin-Fort Walton Beach Tourism will assist with the transport of the 10,000 juvenile redfish.

The juvenile redfish are between four and eight inches in length.

Coastal Conservation Association of Florida invites the public, community partners, and media to be a part of the conservation event.

Children are encouraged to attend. Anyone who is interested in physically taking part in the release should wear athletic attire and water shoes.

The restocking is being funded by a $25,000 donation by a private party, according to CCA Florida.
